About Camp Evergreen: Our Story of Compassion and Community
For nearly a century, Camp Evergreen has been a beacon of joy, growth, and inclusion in the Sheboygan area. Our story began in 1926, when Charles E. Broughton founded us as Kiddies Camp, providing summer outdoor activities and nourishing meals for underprivileged children.
As community services evolved in the mid-1950s, so did our mission. Kiddies Camp shifted its focus to address the recreational needs of children and adults with cognitive disabilities, dedicating ourselves to serving this vital population. In the 1980s, we proudly became Camp Evergreen, a name chosen to better reflect our unwavering commitment to individuals of all ages, young and old alike.
Today, we continue to build on this legacy, enriching lives and fostering a supportive environment where every individual can thrive.
Our Mission
To enrich the lives of children and adults with cognitive and other disabilities, as well as the lives of their families and care-providers, by offering accessible, compassion-driven, respite care, day services, after school care and summer camp programming.
